Lorraine, __After my last post, Kathy and I left home and drove that night to the upper Maine coastline to spend our weekend in the areas of Mount Cadillac, Schoodic Point, and Ray Point in Milbridge... looking out to Cow Island. Our anniversary was October third, our 33 years of marriage. We stayed away from the internet during that short time, a remarkable adventure; we've just now returned. __Sorry to hear of your continued dilemmas... it brings to my mind the differences between >value and cost<, this story of the penny. ***************************** __A ten year old was given a penny as a birthday gift, that penny wore a minting date that was the same as the childs birth-year. The child had a tantrum, in anger he degraded that gift, "worthless" he said, "what can I do with a penny?" Its an insult to my birthday!" He tossed the penny into the junk box and stormed out the door. __On his next birthday, that penny reappeared, then reappeared, and again on each continuing birthday. At his 20th birthday, when that nuisance penny had shown its face once again, he captured that penny and put it in his wallet. __Thirty years, fourty, fifty, and sixty years... and on each of those birthdays, he removed that penny, and in gazing at that coin on each occasion he said to the penny: "It has been a grand year again! Some sorrow but more happiness to remember in that time!" He then said to his penny, "I know I'll be seeing you again next year, and I thank you, my dear life friend!" ************************** __The >value< of that penny to the birthday boy? Would be INCALCULABLE, in its memory and caring, and in its positive view of the future! __The >cost< ? JUST one cent. And all its worth, is magnified seen in the >value< of feeling. ************************* Lorraine, believe this... your followers are... your penny. _m
